Twenty-Two Gallery presents Recent Work, featuring artwork by Phyllis Anderson. Exhibition and sale continues through November 6, 2016.
“I have been painting for nearly three decades, exploring process and outcome, meaning and metaphor. The focus of my recent work has been gestural abstraction, sometimes with a nod to the grid, sometimes based on landscape. The paintings are built up stroke by stroke, color upon color. There is a tension between quick, unconscious marks and more analytic ones; thick and thin line. I am inspired by the rhythmic energy of dance or music. My aim is to express the joy and energy of painting through the basic elements of color, line and surface.” – Phyllis Anderson
Twenty-Two Gallery represents quality original artwork by twenty-two area artists. Owned by Shawn Murray, the gallery is also the permanent home of the Bruce Murray Collection of original photography depicting vintage baseball images and Americana from the early 20th century.
